This year´s Baco wine awards edition, have represented a great success for mallorcan wines. 6 wines of PDO Pla i Llevant and two form Wine of Mallorca (Vino de la Tierra Mallorca) have been awarded with this prestigious acknowledgement. In the following days we will be posting videos of the some of our known sommeliers tasting and commenting the award-winning wines.
Starting with the wine that has been acknowledged with the highest prize, Chardonnay Roure from Miquel Gelabert Winery. This might be the most awarded wine in several national and international wine contests.

In this video, Daniel Arias, president of the Balearic Association of Sommeliers, unravels the secrets of this wine. He has been trained and graduated as a sommelier by CDT in Valencia and Hosteleria de Lago in Madrid, trainer in Cava tasting, owner of WSET degree in wines of La Rioja. Miquel Gelabert is the owner of the winery and is known as a prestigious winemaker at a national and international level. He has been collecting several prizes and awards over the past years. He first started making wine in his own restaurant, and ended up entirely devoted to wine. He elaborates wines with a unique personality that are perfectly distinguishable from other cellars. He works with wide range of grape varieties, either native and French. Along with his wife, Maria Miquel, he has raised his family business with nothing but hard work. In the past few years, both of their children, Maria and Miquel, have also joined the business. The later is graduated in biotechnology and oenology, and has created, together with his father, a new brand of wines, Son Moix, that includes white, rosé, red and also sparkling wines.
